Stimulates the central nervous system, excites the respiratory and vasomotor centers (especially with a lowered tone of the vasomotor center). There is no direct stimulating effect on the heart and vasoconstrictor effect. In large (toxic) doses can cause clonic convulsions.
Violation of cardiac activity, shock, asphyxia; poisoning with narcotic, hypnotic drugs, analgesics.

Nikethamide is a stimulant drug with analeptic properties. It is used since the beginning of 20th century as a treatment for tranquilizer overdoses and hypotension, back then it was known under the brand name of Coramine.
As of today, Nikethamide is marketed in Russia as a drug for circulatory shock, asphyxia, and tranquilizers poisoning. In Europe, the drug is sold under the brand names of Glucardiamidand Gly-Coramin as Nikethamide+Glucose lozenges and is used to relieve fatigue symptoms.
Nikethamide does potentiate the effects of psychostimulant and antidepressant drugs and decreases the effects of narcotic analgesics, hypnotics, antipsychotics, and anxiolytics.
